Curiosity vs. fundamentalism

“Seth Godin:

A fundamentalist is a person who considers whether a fact is acceptable to their faith before they explore it.

That’s opposed to a curious person, who explores first, and then considers whether or not they want to accept the ramifications.

Such a great way to compare the two approaches.

Defending your beliefs is good; exploring other points of view is also good. It’s the order in which you do it that’s important. Explore first, then draw your conclusions.
